Deerhoof
Deerhoof is such a good band. Their sound is constantly reeling back and forth between the familiar and the chaotic. It's beautiful and then it's abrasive. It's playful and then it's inaccessible. Their live shows are my favorite out of any band. After seeing them again last week, I wanted to make a painting that did their performance justice. My typical art style didn't feel like it fit quite right with their music style, so I tried something a little different.

Some More World Building
The geologist's shack.
Lavender wanted the fish to be able to get out of their tanks if they wanted to, so someone from the experimental robotics department found a solution.
Hector Supernova was the first child born in space. He's been coasting off of that fact for the last 37 years.
She had an upsetting realization that all her success in the world of undersea research labs was for nothing. Everyone was going into orbit instead. This aquatic kingdom meant nothing to anyone but her. And fish.
Abandoned landing platform
Beaver
Cheshire Cat-inspired beaver character
Every year, it's tradition for me to draw a weird looking bear for my cousin on his birthday.
Avengers
I've really been getting into these movies. I will likely do more of these later.
This is Ant-Man's old vacation photo from Disney World.

Weezer
I created this for the site All Things Weezer. I'm a huge fan of the band, and had a lot of fun trying to incorporate something from the art of each of their albums.

Space Lumberjack
I made a full painting of the Space Lumberjack from the beginnings of my world-building sketches. I love the idea of a whole forest growing inside a space station. This guy's happy to be there.
Banjo-Kazooie Revisited
Still my favorite game of all time. I love how much personality the characters have in the game, so I tried to do them justice here. I have to say, I had a lot of fun drawing this.
Space Station Characters
A geologist inspecting a fascinating rock
A flower-inspired robot
This one was a combination of sketchbook and digital painting, like Hulk and Judy Hopps in my last post. It's a fun technique, and I like the results I'm getting from it.
Geek Stuff
60s Batman
Deku Link from Majora's Mask
Sharky the Shark Dog from the cartoon show Eek the Cat
Here, I tried some new approaches to combining sketchbook pages with digital painting
Hulk
Judy Hopps from Zootopia
Some Star Wars stuff too. Here's Jessika Pava from Episode 7.
I'd really like to see someone cosplay as the Millennium Falcon this way. Someone please do this.
Starting some world-building
For a long time, I've been slowly developing an original story project. The problem is, I kept re-writing my story outlines and I didn't want to design anything until I knew how it could serve the story. Instead of getting stuck in that perpetual loop, I'm going to try something different. Let's only focus on the world-building side of it and really have some fun.
A retro-futuristic mobile device
Octopus-inspired diving helmet
Trees on a space station? This is the kind of lumberjack you'll need.
She's mad that she's left out of the space station experience
